ABOUT THE KNOTTED PROJECT

The Knotted Project create intricate & original physical theatre for various platforms & audiences. Their work brings a unique charm & dynamic style to a range of stories from the modern world.

The Knotted Project was formed in 2013, when directors Natalie Morrell & Simon McElligott graduated in BA Physical Theatre from East 15 Acting School, where they trained for 3 years.

Driven to make work that was accessible & enjoyable for a wider audience, the company made their 1st full length production ‘Lonely Hearts’ in 2014. Funded by Arts Council England, 'Lonely Hearts' was a hilarious & heartwarming portrayal of the quirks of Online Dating; the show quickly put TKP on the map for their unique style & comedic flair.

TKP have since made pieces for theatre tours, festivals and have worked in partnership internationally, supported and funded by British Council and Arts Council England (AIDF). Most recently, they made & toured their magical dance/theatre adventure for 3-8 yr olds 'The Chit Chat Chalk Show' to over 30 UK venues in partnership with Hawk Dance Theatre.

TKP put creative learning at the heart of their work. As experienced practitioners, they know the importance of creativity in developing young minds & deliver a year-round creative learning programme for young people.

The company have recently been commissioned by The Lowry to devise a new physical theatre production inspired by the lives of Young Carers. The Knotted Project proudly collaborate with various other leading arts venues in the North of England including The Brewery Arts Centre, The Dukes, The Grand Theatre Blackpool.
